My previous post dealt with the Daubert/Rusch factors which must be applied to child support calculations in situations where the parents' combined incomes exceed the economic table. Ironically, legislation has recently gone into effect which effectively addresses the situation. In case you did not know, RCW 26.19.020 (along with several other sections) has been amended effective NOW. The economic table now extends far beyond the $7000 threshold. The economic table now provides calculations for combined monthly incomes up to $12,000. Furthermore, the economic table is now presumptive for incomes up to and including $12,000 Wash. Rev. Code § 26.19.020 (2009). This is a substantial change from the previous amount of $5000.
Over the next few days weeks I'll be digging deeper into the exciting changes to applicable Washington child support laws. Stay tuned!
